The Company was started by Andre Dorfling & Derrick Botha, both Port Elizabeth born, and Andres wife Gail.
In 1985 Derrick left and relocated to Durban firstly to concentrate on the manufacture of fire doors, ultimately to return to sprinklers and start a new company.
Reg Wicks joined the company, from the A.S.I.B., Bob Derbyshire relocated from Johannesburg and Winston Dirker and Brian Hood joined from Improvair.
At this time, contracts being carried out included Tiger Oats in Cape Town, the Parkade in George, Government Printer in Umtata and the Feathermarket Centre in Port Elizabeth.
Reg, Winston & Brian eventually left the Company and the current members are
Andre Dorfling, Gail Dorfling and Bob Derbyshire.Reg, Brian and Bob all hold the A.S.I.B. certificate of competancy and currently, with only Bob’s certificate, Eascape Fire CC are classified as an “Installer” by the A.S.I.B. with whom the Company is registered.
Although Port Elizabeth based the company has, over the years, contracted work in Johannesburg, Port Shepstone, Knysna, George, Cape Town as well as Eastern Cape areas of Stutterheim, Queenstown, Barkly East and Umtata.
The Company is registered with the Automatic Sprinkler Inspection Bureau (Pty) Ltd of South Africa - A.S.I.B., subscribes to the Fire Protection Association of South Africa - F.P.A. and is a member of the Master Builders Association of the Eastern Cape - M.B.A.
Our labour force, inclusive of office staff, varies between 35 and 40 dependent
upon our contractual requirements, exclusive of any casual labour that we employ
as and when required.Our design work is produced on a CAD system, in-house, and our design office comprises of three computer stations together with a full colour A0 size printer.
